Recruitment, Retention and Pay During Change in Local Government

Penna is the sole sponsor of the Local Government Chronicle event, taking place on Tuesday 13 December 2005 at 4 Hamilton Place, London.

Penna's major new report into how to create Meaning at Work has been launched to great interest in the press and amongst our clients.

Featuring contributions from Sir Digby Jones, Peter Beresford, David Fairhurst and many others, the report draws together the findings of surveys with 1760 employees across all sectors and regions in the UK.

When we asked what employers who create meaning at work can expect in return

  • 55% said they would be more motivated
  • 42% said they would be more loyal
  • 32% said they would have more pride in their organisation
  • 22% said they would work harder
  • 20% said they would put in more hours

    We've also conducted a survey with 75 HRDs and focus groups with other HR professionals.

    The result is an in depth look at what really creates meaning at work for your people. The report concludes with a list of lessons for leaders who want to create meaning for their people.

    Penna at the Annual CIPD Conference & Exhibition, 26-28 October 2005

    Penna wins Most Effective Use of Interim Management Award

    Penna's Executive Interim team collected this prestigious award at the HR Excellence Awards 2005, hosted by Human Resources Magazine.

    Penna won through a project delivered to Ealing Council, by placing three interim executives to introduce private sector skills to transform the HR function.

    Penna worked closely with Ealing to understand their needs and sourced and placed a team of experienced interim candidates to work in Learning and Development, Resourcing and HR Business Partnership.

    Brian Cernuschi, Heather Staff and Mike Burgneay join to head up the team. Anne Riley will join in October 2005 as Managing Director and will be part of the Penna Executive Team.
