James started at Penna in July 2003 to expand the Public Sector practice within the Interim Division, specialising within Central Government and the Health sector. After 6 years in the Army James joined Harvey Nash in 1993 where he spent 9 years in the IT Contracts Division. He was responsible for winning and managing some of the major Preferred Supplier Relationships with clients such as Computacenter, Railtrack, MCI Worldcom, Ericsson and Motorola. He managed a team of consultants which coordinated some of the Division's largest clients.

In 2002 James joined Drax Group to set up a Public Sector practice within their Executive Search and Interim Division. He developed relationships with a range of clients, particularly the NHS, and conducted a variety of Search and Interim assignments across many job functions.

Jonathan Hawes

Jonathan Hawes been working with Penna since 2002 and in 2004 he was appointed Sector Head, Financial Services for Penna Interim.  Jonathan has over 15 years’ executive recruitment experience in financial services.

Prior to a successful 10-year career in the Financial Services practice of a major global search firm, now Heidrick & Struggles, Jonathan spent 6 years working in derivatives. He holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a specialisation in Human Resources.

Charles Wilson

Charles joined Penna Interim in March 2006, having previously worked at Penna since October 2004 as part of the public sector permanent recruitment team. His background and expertise is in Public Sector Resourcing and this specialism will continue in the Interim team. Charles moved from Capita, where he spent five years recruiting for and partnering with many central government departments, executive agencies and NDPB's. Some of Charles' clients have included HM Customs and Excise, the Home Office, the DWP, the DTI and the Commission for Equality and Human Rights. He has worked to OCPA and Civil Service Recruitment guidelines and has worked on many senior and high profile roles as well as volume recruitment and assessment projects. Charles has a BSc (Hons) in Resource Management.

Simon Drake

Simon heads the Transportation and Consulting sectors and has worked in the executive resourcing and consulting sectors for over 15 years, working with Boards of FTSE 100 companies to SMEs. Simon has successfully delivered interim assignments from CEO level through to project specialists. His executive interim management experience is backed by personal management experience at strategic level, which includes projects such as business merger and business turnarounds and was previously Divisional Managing Director for a LSE listed Consultancy. Simon also oversees the Property & Construction sectors working with Layla.

Tim Paylor

Tim Paylor joined Penna in 2006 to lead the interim management practice in the Energy and Utilities market.  Prior to joining Penna Tim spent 10 years as a top performer in the technology recruitment sector, developing relationships with a portfolio of “blue chip” organisations within the financial services, commerce and industry sectors. During this time, Tim also held senior management positions with Harvey Nash plc and Spring plc.

Debbie McCall

Debbie started at Penna in July 2006 to head up the Retail, Consumer and Manufacturing Sector Practice within the Interim Division.

Debbie began her career on the trading floors working in corporations such as Phibro in commodity trading and Credit Suisse Financial Products in emerging markets. In 1998, Debbie qualified in interior design and ran her own successful business for 3 years.

She joined Odgers Ray & Berndtson in 2003 as an Associate Consultant in the Industrial Markets practice with her prime focus on business development. A year later, Debbie moved into Risk & Regulation, under OdgersInterim, with work relating principally to Sarbanes-Oxley. In 2005, she transferred to the Private Sector Interim Management Practice as a Consultant with clients including Marks and Spencer, Trinity Mirror, RHM, Initial Hygiene and the Post Office.

David has most recently been recruiting finance professionals within the Public Sector and has joined Penna to increase our reach into Local Government where Penna has developed a strong reputation, placing interim managers across all functions. We have developed a strong network of candidates, particularly in Social Services, Procurement and HR.

Jeryl Shepherd

Jeryl joined Penna in April 2007 as a Client Partner and was appointed Sector Head, Technology, Media and Telecommunications for Penna Interim in December 2007.
 
Jeryl has numerous years experience working in the Senior Interim Recruitment and Consultancy space.  Prior to joining Penna she had a career in Consultancy advising on Human Resource related issues and worked for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young in their People Division.   

Jeryl holds a PhD in Examining the Impact of Organisational Change on Employee Commitment, has delivered on numerous occasions at the British Academy of Management Conference and also published in leading HR journals including Employee Relations and Human Resource Management Journal.

David joined Penna in May 2008 to help lead the interim management practice across Telecoms, Media and Technology. David has 9 years of recruitment experience across both interim and permanent markets, having spent 6 years with Badenoch & Clark and a further 3 years with Bullet Search (a niche HR/Change Management recruiter). David has recruited across a range of disciplines including; HR, Change Management, Finance, Business Transformation and General Management and has majored in developing relationships across the TMT sector.

Darren has spent 11 years within the recruitment industry, the last 7 in a highly successful role recruiting finance professionals into the London Financial Services sector, developing relationships with a number of leading institutions across Banking, Investment Management and Insurance. Darren was also instrumental in setting up an Interim Management practice in his previous role. Darren has joined Penna Interim to further increase our capabilities within Finance and Risk functions.

Layla Jaff

Layla has over 5 years experience recruiting within the contract and interim markets and previously headed up the Contracting Property & Construction markets within Michael Page International. She started her career with PWC and holds a degree in Tax and International Law and has recruited at all levels. Layla is also keen to expand property and construction interim assignments internationally and speaks; Arabic, Kurdish, Italian, Greek and has some French.
